Dear Families,
You will notice some changes to this week's homework menu and log.
1. Students will now be responsible for completing and reflecting on two of their book bag books each week. You will see information about this under self-selected reading below.
2. Students are expected to practice their flash cards each night. Some students have math cards and word/ phrase cards, while others have only math cards. You will find these cards in the zippered pouch of your child's OWL book.
3. We will be using these menus periodically throughout the school day, so please complete the log each night and be sure it stays in your child's homework folder.
Thanks,
Mrs. Sullivan

Coming Home Today... Addition Flashcards!
Your second grader is coming home with addition flashcards today. They should already be cut out and safely secured in a snack bag inside the pouch in our OWL books. Our goal is "fact fluency." This means we can give the answer in 4 seconds or less. We talked today about how to practice with flashcards. When your child chooses to practice his facts for homework, encourage him/her to make two piles- easy and harder, and then to focus on the harder pile for a bit. Then, when returning to the whole stack, hopefully he/she can celebrate success. Practicing flashcards with an adult or sibling can also be fun.
